FestivitIN’ the Neighborhood

Bichkinya, Mladost, Dyado Dyanko, Hristo Botev and Quarter Number 6 – five Gabrovo neighborhoods that become the center of a new cultural form of communication and interaction between artists and the public, based on human sensibility.

From June to September Gabrovo residents and their guests will enjoy musical evenings, performances, creative workshops, demonstrations, culinary art workshops, crafts and more.

The activities bring together arts and stage forms in a series of festival modules – different for each of the five city districts – “See Me, Visions” in the Bychkinya district, “Hear Me, Feel the Sound” in the Mladost district, “Taste Me, Feel the taste” in the “Dyado Dyanko” neighborhood, “Touch me, Feel the touch” in the “Hristo Botev” neighborhood and “Feel me, Sensation” in the ” Quarter Number 6 “. The events are implemented with the participation of “From BG” Foundation, Community Center “Buditelite 2017” and “Quick Hands Project” Association.

Residence of balance, implemented in partnership with the House of Humor and Satire Museum, will search for equilibrium between senses, environment and lifestyle, seeking to discover artistic formats that provoke new interactions based on sensibility. 4 visual artists – 2 from Norway and 2 from Bulgaria will be provoked by the unexplored environment, resources and freedom to realize their creative perceptions in a space of their choice, challenging the inhabitants, providing non-standard solutions in a traditional environment.

For the development of the capacity of the local cultural community, Training for cultural operators and a Plan for attracting audiences will be developed in cooperation with the international project partner Oslo International Hub.

In October, a tour in the region will present the best of the festival modules – this time going beyond the boundaries of the neighborhoods – in the village of Yavorets and the cities of Tryavna, Sevlievo and Apriltsi.

The main goal of the project, with the implementation of the planned activities, is to reduce economic and social differences in the European Economic Area by implementing activities in the field of culture, developing cultural cooperation and heritage, which strengthen the socio-economic development of the region.

Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area

On 09.12.2016, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed regarding the implementation of the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014-2021 (EEA FM) between the Republic of Bulgaria and Iceland, the Principality of Liechtenstein and the Kingdom of Norway.

The EEA FM aims to build broad cooperation between organizations and individuals from the donor countries and the beneficiary countries, through which economic and social differences in Europe will be reduced. As a result of extensive cooperation, the EEA FM aims to contribute to a greener, more competitive and socially inclusive Europe, which is the motto of the new programming period.

Cultural Entrepreneurship, Heritage and Cooperation Program

The program focuses on the role that culture and movable cultural heritage play as a driver of local and regional development with an emphasis on employment, social inclusion and cultural entrepreneurship. The program recognizes the need to promote diversity in culture and the arts, within the European cultural heritage, as well as to preserve the heritage for future generations. A special focus is put on supporting activities and initiatives with the aim of ensuring wide public access to cultural content, which on the one hand emphasizes European identity and on the other – promotes cultural diversity. The “Cultural Entrepreneurship, Heritage and Cooperation” program is the only instrument at the national level, created by cultural operators for cultural operators in Bulgaria, which positions culture at the center of processes for sustainable development.
